Musette Monday: Jane BirkIn

5.12.2014

How can we not like Jane Birken’s style. Classic with an easy edge.  From mod sixties to boho free spirited.  She is know for pulling off a t-shirt and jean style to a sequined dress and always look appropriate and never under or over done. For summer my favorite silhouette are these little sixties mini dresses.  And Jane’s got it down for sure.  So now that bare leg weather is here, it is time to channel our inner Jane!

Musette Monday: Anna Karina

3.31.2014

Now that Spring is in full effect, it’s only natural to look at Anna Karina for a style muse.  Simple and sophisticated with a dash of youthfulness. Pull out your favorite frilly blouse and knee length skirt with a little pair of flats, for that french flare look.   The blue eye shadow and black eyeliner is definitely must-do for the Anna look!

Musette Monday: Sigourney Weaver

11.18.2013

When Melanie Griffith’s character Tess McGill steps into the shoes of pretending to be her boss Katherine Parker played by Sigourney Weaver. I can’t help but be in those shoes too. High powered 80’s queen with the career, apartment and the dreamy guy. I recently watched Ghostbusters with Sigourney Weaver, here she is playing the damsel and distressed. As a rising star in the 80’s she captured that romantic image perfectly, along with big whispy hair and smokey eyes or bright lips.

Musette Monday: Arty T.V. Girls from the Nineties.

10.29.2013

Megan from Felicity:  Club Girl Megan’s style is off-beat eccentric.  With crazy jewelry (sometimes the variety of babydolls and eyeballs), dramatatic make-up, short skirts, biker chic mixed with mini skirts and lots of shiny shirts including snake and chinese printed. Her signature look was a crazy fun up-do, usually something to do with the double bun-head or another favorite, mini bun-heads.

Rayanne from My So Called Life: Grunge with a super fun arty spin, yes please.  Over-sized flannels, retro cowboy shirts, lots of beaded jewelry, chokers, and again more oversized crazy earrings.  Her signature hairstyle was the half hair up with a scarf or scrunchie, or many braids and baby barrettes, along with bleached strands of bangs over the eyes.

Clarissa from Clarissa Explains it all: Pop culture gone bananas. Let’s just mix everything together.  Oversized baby dolls dress, patched denim, lots and lots of vest, suspenders, biker shorts, knee high sucks and chunky shoes.  Lots of checker and diamond heirloom prints, mixed with polk-a-dots or quirky florals. One to master the look “let’s just pile it on” never looked so clever.  Her hair trademark was a lot of wildly printed thick hairbands and wispy bangs.
